If you have not heard yet, Mercedes has go through a complete renovation plan that is pushing the German car company forward to new heights. We can finally and safely say that the SLC concept will be built and this is what it looks like, well with iron man armor but its the out look and artist sketch.
Rumors were that it was to be released in 2014 but not it is official that it will come out 2015 around about the same time as the current SLS makes its finally bow. It will also be sold in a coupe and roadster variant as well as being a front mount engine as opposed to the mid engined quips we heard.
The motor Mercedes will use under the bonnet is a V8 dual clutch transmission, it will be a 4,0 Liter instead of the big bore 5,5 L or 6,3 L. The project R190 ( as it will be officially called) has decided to go with the smaller capacity because BMW and Audi with their new generation engines are going with 500cc per cylinder. As a result you will eventually only see 2.0L, 3.0L and 4.0L and to a point were the V12s will no longer be around.
Since the R190 project will smoothly overlap the phasing out of the SLS, we expect to see the same aluminum intensive engineering layout and light curb weight for even better handling and exceptional performance. The SLC has put dreams of a mid engined Merc to rest but put new light into emphatically dynamic two seater sports cars.
We may find in the future that there will be a smaller V6 variant and even carbon fiber super cars which will take the rivalry with Mclaren to a whole new level. Though all these great new ventures are taking off for Mercedesn there is still a lot of uncertainty's for parent company Daimler. Such as the future of the smart and the attempt to bridge the gap to the A/B classes. Also what will there answer be to the BMW I and Audi E-tron, no matter it is sure to continue it rain on top and road revolution, all we can say we can't wait to see what else this brand has up its sleeves.
