2014 New BMW M3 pictures, specifications and preview.

It is finally confirmed, the 2014 New BMW M3 is going back to a 6 cylinder powered engine. What we do not know and has not been confirmed yet is whether or not it is going to be a V6 twin turbo or a three turbo charged straight six. We have heard that a reliable insider at the German manufacture, has said that the specification it will be a 3,0 liter V6, twin-turbo. The insider has also said, that BMW has been working on a new turbo configuration, which is also a first for the usually naturally aspirated M3 series.

The New engine (according to the insider) is going to be a 90 degree V6, which in theory should be 60 degree as it is more balanced. But BMW have had to make it so as to fit the new turbo's, that are now closer to the intake making less turbo lag and throttle response. It also allows the turbo's to be cooled off quicker and more efficiently, also cooler air will reach the inter cooler. There has also been advanced weight saving, the bonnet is carbon honeycomb (only weighing 3 Kgs). The total weight saved is about 75 kgs, making kerb weight 1580 kg. They will also be still featuring the 6 speed manual and a revised 7 speed dual clutch transmission.

The technical specifications are set to be around 320 Kw and 550 N.m. The 0-100 km sprint time should be around 4 seconds back. According to the Euro6 emissions standards, meaning that it will have to do around 11,9liters/100 km. The big trick in Euro now is to balance between more performance, less weight and better efficiency. We shall wait and see if they manage to achieve this, all we want to know is how it goes on the track!
