Audi A1 Clubsport

When you hear the name Audi and figures like 0-100 Km/h in 4 seconds, you might be thinking about the Audi R8 or new RS6 but you would be wrong. The new Audi A1 Clubsport is the newest creation from the German maniacs, is the prototype for the new Audi A1 quattro and boy what a car it is. More as an engineering pet project, a chance for those conservative German boys to let of some steam and build a car that will make boy racers around the world drool.

On the outside it looks just like an ordinary A1 with some after market spoilers and paint decals. However once you step on the inside you can automatically realize you have just stepped into something special. With low bucket seats, flat bottom racing style steering wheel and enough Alcantara to carpet Switzerland you might be confused that you sitting inside a proper R8. The car gets its engine from the TT RS as well as its gear box but that's as far as the similarities go.

Using a 2,5 liter 20V five-cylinder turbo engine that pushes out 250 Kw and a 450 Nm that is tied to a stripped down n lighter A1 body that weighs only 1150 Kg (est). All this is pushes out on a four wheel drive with a six speed manual that will launch the pocket rocket to 100 km/h in 4 second and on to a restricted 249 Km/h and with only 8,8 liter/100Km and only 200g/km of co2 it is good for the hippies to.

This type of hatch hot rockets and small boy racers have been popular as far back as when cars first become publicly available. With hot imports and tuner parts available for every car imaginable to convert your every day commuter into a super car challenger, but the Germans seem to be the best at producing them straight out the factory. The Audi A1 Clubsport is a testament to that, a car that will make people stop and star and small boys aspire to own. This is a beautiful car that I wish I could use to whip around town with but unfortunately it is only a prototype and the date for the quattro has yet to have a release date.
