Despite the current economic crisis there is one commodity that no matter how bad things get will never run out, the male ego. The male ego is the driving force of many of the modern worlds exploits, take the army or money all created to measure and show how great, powerful and awesome we as men are. But in the past century one thing has reigned supreme in feeding our egos and proving how mucho wacho testosterone filled we are, and that is, the Automobile.
Since its inception in the late 1800s and mass production in the early 1900s, men have been racing them in an attempt in proving to other men(and some woman) how legendary we are and how much of a loser every other chump is who doesn't beat us. Let's face it nothing feels better then hitting the perfect line clipping the apex and then passing the grandpa driving slow coach in front of you then looking back at the helmet of the loser behind you as he swallows your dust of victory, and that's just on a video game or your local go-kart track.
Yes testosterone, ladies is the fuel to our ego engines. Making us go faster, bigger and more powerful then the next knuckle head ego maniac. Sure there have been some woman in racing who have achieved success, but they don't get it the way we do. Sure they may love the sport but its in our DNA its in the way we live life without it we would simple crawl up in a tiny dark hole and die. Take Micheal Jackson when the media (which is a woman by the way) destroyed his ego he jusr fell apart and well we all know how that sad story ends. Take another Michael, Michael Schumacher he jst coudnt stay away he had to come back, even if it wasn't the way he left.
Ask any man, any real man the feeling he gets when he walks into the local go-kart track and smells the co2 exhaust filled air, hears the tyres squealing. Then makes his way over placing the helmet on his head as the testosterone shoots to your head and replaces all the fear and common sense brain cells. Then making your way over to the starting line swerving the kart to warm up the tyres (making you feel more pro).
A feeling that is truly the greatest in the world, a feeling I hope for my sanity and my testosterone driven male ego never fades.
Ronaldo, V
