A wile back we did an article on the new Porsche Boxster, we talked about all the tech it was going to have and all the engine it was running. Now we have and official report with propper specs and prices, as well as performance and a report of a road test. I had said before that this was a great car and the new one was fantastic and had changed me into a Boxster fan, but after this it realy made us like it.
We reported that the Boxster was using a 2,7Liter engine that has a 195 Kw flat-six that pumps out 280 N.m that pushes it to 100 Km/h in 5.5secs (with sport plus) and on to a top speed of 262 Km/h. The Boxster S however is the larger faster one, it has a 3,4 liter engine flat-six with 232 Kw and 360 N.m and with sport plus it will go to 100 Km/h in 4.8secs and 277 Km/h top speed. Both cars have been improved in the engine department to improve fuel economy without hampering in performance. The Boxster will do 7,7 liter per hundred kilometers and the Boxster S 8,0 Liters. The body is also modified with a 60 mm longer wheelbase and a 40 mm wider track as well as shorter front overhang and a 13 mm lower roof line, and 40 percent improved torsional stiffness improving handling.
The new Boxster and Boxster S have all the right tools and technology to make a performance car that matched by non. The SLK, BMW Z4 and Nissian 370Z are the cars in the same segment and are meant to compete against the Porsche but after the performance figures and the handling it showed on the tiny narrow mount roads during the road test, it is clear this car is way out of their league and for the price almost should compete against top level super cars. The Porsche Boxster and Boxster S work best with the amazing PDK gear box and costs R589 000 and R699 000 for the S. Really nothing is quite this good for quite so little.
