Audi S6/S7

The launch of the new A6/A7 model from Audi didn’t quite set the world on fire as the manufacture expected. The aim was to make an executive saloon that everyone can afford at a reasonable price for the luxury. One thing they had was luxury but not the pace to keep up with busy schedules.

So in order to cut the time gap down, Audi has fitted the S-models with their new (VW Group) 4.0L V8 twin-turbo power plant, with 309kw and 550Nm, enough to propel the machine from 0-100km/h in 4.6 seconds and 4.7 for the S7 and on to a electronically limited top speed of 250km/h. Typical of all Audi S-models it comes with all-wheel drive and seven-speed S tronic gearbox.

New funny tricky bits have been fitted to the engine that shuts off four cylinders under partial throttle and with the aid of start/stop technology fuel can be saved to the tiniest of grams of 9.6L/100km or 24mpg. Despite the fact that they were made to drive down the autobahn from meeting to meeting at top speed, all day every day, we just can’t see the point of that.

Both models are mechanically identical, luxury and elegant for what they are made for. Caring your boss from home to work.
Boss can I please be your chauffeur?
